Reunion Point Blank

With my high school reunion coming up next weekend, I've been thinking about my career. I suppose that is a bit cliche. It shows up in just about every movie that has a high school reunion as the main plot vehicle. Some of my favorites include Grosse Pointe Blank starring John Cusack, and Romy and Michelle's High School Reunion with Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino. The first is about a hitman that has a job in his hometown, on the weekend of his 10 year reunion. Very funny. Very John Cusack. The second is about a couple of friends that decide that they haven't become the interesting people they wanted to be, and consequently they invent new lives to appear more successful.

So, like I said, I've been thinking about my career. I'm going to apply for a position in the company that would take me on a different path than I am on now. If I remain a Lineman, I eventually have the opportunity to take on such duties as Electric Crew Foreman or Electric Troubleman. I'll be applying for a Management position that is opening up in Bakersfield. I don't know that the company would want a younger person in that position. I believe that I can offer the company some valuable qualities. Ultimately, I'm putting it in God's hands. He's already appointed the people that will hire the appropriate cantidate. For now, all I can do is wait.

No matter what happens, I'm looking forward to my reunion. I love my job, my wife, my child, my dog, and most importantly, God. I just want to see my friends again.
