NO SLEEP 'TILL...

We've been on a 'round the clock runaround, lately. The kiddo is getting dinner every couple hours. Consequently, WE are up every couple of hours. My wife had an observation that I think may be very true for many people. She remarked that many women say that the pain of the childbirth is quickly forgotten. While that may be true in the long run, in the short run, the pain of birth is quickly overshadowed by the pain of sleep deprivation and post-partum blues. Birth last only hours, whereas the lack of sleep, and everything else that comes with it lasts for days and days.

For now, we are settling in to the joy of parenthood. I couldn't be more pleased with my daughter. She is everything that I ever hoped for - and them some.

For the next phase of parental life, my theme song will be the classic Beastie Boys chorus.

No

Sleep

Till Brooklyn!

Super off track tangential side-note. Sabotage is my favorite music video. Like a super 70s throwback- but it's from the 90s.

I guess since we are going on our 4th year of sleep deprivation its harder for me to actually remember what it was like to get a good night's sleep. It has been really cool reliving the early days of parenthood with you guys.

Just make sure you don't make the same mistake that we did with Karlos. Every time he would wake up at night we would both get up, turn the lights on and sometimes the TV (gotta love Roseanne at 3am in the morning!) and talk until we finally got him back to sleep. It wasn't too long before he decided that night was his daytime and vice versa. The only way to correct it was to keep it dark and quiet at night and bright and noisy during the day. It took him about a week to get turned back around again. Just a little tip from a mommy that's been there and didn't make the same mistake with the next two.

I hope we get to see your little one when we are in town this weekend. We'll call you and find out a good time. We love you guys and are really enjoying the pictures. She's so beautiful, just like her mommy and grandmas!

Perhaps "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters would be appropriate (or am I simply revealing my "vintageness" by quoting from a 70's group?) Hang in there.

Listen all y'all...

Hey, Nick. Just wanted to thank you for the P.F. Chang's gift card. I took Santana out and it was delicious.

If you guys need anything, feel free to call.

I love The Carpenters, and it is entirely the fault of my wife. She was always listening to them before we started to date. Because I wanted to be around her more, I decided that I could try to enjoy the music.

I'm on the top of the world lookin down on creation

And the only explanation I can find

Is the love that Ive found ever since you've been around

Your love puts me at the top of the world
