Mish Mash

As this year draws ever closer to its end, I am ever more amazed at the changes that have come over my little baby. Now almost 11 months old, she is able to crawl with amazing speed. She stands, and walks around the furniture. She has her own sense of humor. She is inquisitive, and will hunt me down if I try to hide under a blanket.

Today, she attempted to assert her independence through the use of utensils at dinner time. She now wants to feed herself. I knew it would happen sometime. I just wasn't expecting it at this age.

She was able to get the correct end of the spoon into her mouth with regularity. She wasn't able to get the spoon in her mouth with food still on it. She would wave the spoon over the plate of beans in a circular motion, with a perplexed look on her face. As if to say, "Dear father, by what manner of deviltry is the acquisition of beans made possible?"

She's also doing this with her left hand. I'm sure that it's still too early to tell what hand will be dominant. Still, I'm intrigued. As her mother and I are both right-handed, it would be interesting if she ended up left-hand dominant.

We put up our Christmas tree, today. Our tradition is that we watch Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, and Rosemary Clooney in White Christmas while we decorate. It's our 7th Christmas. They just keep getting better.
