Flying High

Sometimes at work I can scarcely believe that I am getting paid for having so much fun. One such day was about a month ago. A powerline fell over during a storm, at Redinger Lake. The difficulty in repairing this line is that to get to it usually requires a boat trip across the lake, and then you have to scale a small cliff. That's a lot of work to do, and you haven't even done the real work yet!

This time our boss decided we would take advantage of the abilities that a helicopter presents. The fun in using a helicopter at work is that we get to ride on the outside of the ship. That's right. The outside. If you ever saw a movie where the actor was flying while hanging from the side of a helicopter, and thought it looked exciting, you'd be right. I can't really think of many other things that would be as fun as this.

All said, I really love my job. I get paid to do the crazy things that some people have to pay to do themselves. Sometime soon I'll get some of my pictures from days that we worked in the snow.

This is one blog entry I WON'T be sending to your grandmother! She thinks the things WE do are dangerous. You've sure got us beat. I'M awfully jealous though. What a fun adventurous job. Glad to hear you are so happy.

Thanks for sharing those photos, Nick (and thank Craig too!). That really isn't at all how I pictured the area you were working in that day.
