Roundup
Seriously, is she not the cutest kid you've seen? This week she has been pretending to crawl, lifting her head up, and has invented a new scream. I was introduced to the scream the other night when I had to clear out her nose with the suction bulb. She sounded like she was being murdered. As soon as I picked her up from the changing table - click - like a lightswitch, she stopped screaming and looked at me in a way similar to the picture shown here. Ah, the joys of parenthood. Did I mention that this was at 330 in the morning?
At work, things have been relatively normal. This week we had a safety meeting for the entire Kern area at the county fairgrounds. We were delighted to have as our guest, one of our Senior VPs from Corporate. This Senior VP of Corporate Strategy and Development is a guy who is very familiar with the ways of mergers and acquisitions. I was fortunate to chat with him for a while before the meeting was under way. Although he was upbeat about the future of our company, I did take into account the news story that he brought up. TXU, an energy providing utility in Texas is in the process of a buyout to the tune of 45 Billion dollars. 45 Billion. TXU is about three times the size of the company that I work for. This could mean almost anything. I'm confident that we hired the right man for the job, and that the letterhead on the company paper will stay the same.
